Magellan has introduced the new RoadMate 1400 GPS navigator at CES 2008 this week. This is the base model in the series available at a price of $300.
RoadMate 1400 features:
- Navteq road maps of the continental U.S., Hawaii, and Puerto Rico
- 1.3 million points of interest
- 4.3" WQVGA full-color, anti-glare touch-screen display
- Centrality Atlas III GPS chipset

Sony Ericsson W760 is a new GPS-enabled Walkman cell phone. Besides having a GPS receiver it also includes applications, such as Wayfinder Navigator (subscriprion required), Google Maps and Tracker, which provides users with stats on distance, speed, spoken turn-by-turn directions and over 20 million POIs. Other features include:
- HSDPA
- Quad-band GSM/EDGE
- Built-in speaker
- FM radio
- 3.2Mpix camera
- 1GB Memory Stick card
The Nuvi 5000 is a new GPS navigation system for large vehicles such as trucks. It has a 5.2" touch screen, and is able to store 10 routes with multi-segment capability and auto-sort destinations for the shortest and efficient route. It also has the ability to hook up rear view cameras, which is suitable for delivery trucks. Other features include MP3 player, audio book support, FM-transmitter, MSN Direct support and more. And by the way, the device lack the internal battery. Nuvi 5000 shoul become available in February for $800.
Alpine plans to release two new GPS navigators in the near future. They are called PND-K3 and PND-K3msn and have almost the same features except that the latter comes with MSN Direct service, which offers up-to-date traffic, weather, gas price information and movie showtimes. Other features include:
- 4.3" wide high resolution touchscreen
- Pre-loaded maps of USA & Canada (including Hawaii, Alaska, Puerto Rico & Virgin Islands)
- Fast routing and map zooming
- 6 million POIs with selectable map icons

GPS: Becker Traffic Assist 7827 GPS Navigation System
At the upcoming CES 2008 Becker is going to present yet another of its GPS devices. This time it's Traffic Assist 7827; and don't confuse it with the previous 7927, 7928, or the 7934 models. So, here's what the 7827 model offers:

GPS: Uniden MapTrax 430 GPS Navigator with Radar Detection Capability
Uniden will present its new GPS navigator at the upcoming CES 2008 event. The device is called MapTrax 430 and will feature radar detection as its main attraction point. Other features include text-to-speech, Bluetooth, 2GB of internal memory, and pre-loaded Navteq maps with automatic daytime change.
MainNav MG-950D is a new Bluetooth GPS data logger similar to Garmin Edge 305 that can be useful for hiking, biking, driving, and even running. The device serves as a Bluetooth GPS receiver using a SiRF Star III GPS chipset and can save up to 120,000 waypoints. It calculates the speed and altitude during your workout and saves the gatheres data, so it can be later transferred to a PC through the USB port and viewed on Google Earth. Pricing and availability details are yet unknown. We expect more details to be unveiled at the upcoming CES 2008 event.
NX-7 is a new GPS navigator that has been recently launched in Korea. It comes in a super slim profile, and features a 4.3" 16:9 touch-screen, SiRF Star III GPS receiver, and an embedded DMB receiver for digital TV, various multimedia features, and even plays DVDs. The device should start seling in Korea in 2008.
