MOSCOW, April 3rd - a technological fight over the United States monopoly on satellite navigation begins.
The Russian Institute of Radionavigation and Time develops devices such as chips and receivers. By the end of 2007 the Russian space agency plans to launch 8 navigation satellites that would nearly complete the country’s own system, called Glonass.
The Sony NV-U81T GPS device has been recently releaced in Japan under a different name, the NV-U1. But there is still a chance that the new NV-U81T will appear in the U.S.
The device features a 4.3" touch screen, hands-free bluetooth support, a standard traffic message channel receiver and a 4GB hard disk for storage.
Other cool features include gesture commands and position plus technology, that predicts the vehicle location when GPS signals are out of reach.

The Nokia 330 Auto Navigation unit soon will be selling in the United States. It comes with preinstalled Navteq maps and has a 3.5" touch screen display, turn-by-turn voice-guided road navigation, multimedia player and image viewer.
Medion has introduced its new GoPal S2310 and X4510 GPS devices at
CeBIT. Both models include upgraded GoPal 3.0 navigation software which
uses maps from NanTec and comes in 3 editions: Medium Edition, Advanced
Edition and Premium Edition.
GoPal S2310 is equipped with a 3.5" display and has a rounded antishock
plastic casing. Its main feature is the Tracking Mode that allows users
to record the course and export it to Google Earth.
The GoPal S2310 will be priced at 299 Euros.
If you need a simple cheap GPS device w/o tons of extras which you never use, the new Nuvi line is a good place to look for it.
The difference between the Nuvi models is in maps. The 200 model has just the continental USA + Hawaii and Puerto Rico, the 250 has North America and 270 model comes with maps of North America and Europe.
The missing features are: Bluetooth hands free calling, traffic receivers, text-to-speech editors and music players.
Pharos 600 and 600e smart-phones combine navigation, entertainment and office productivity tools in a single portable device. The 600e model also comes with integrated US and Canada GPS maps.
EZEX has introduced its new NAVZEN N430 at the CeBIT 2007. The N430 GPS device operates on Microsoft WinCE OS, uses a 32-bit ARM9 processor and has 64MB RAM. It measures 120mm x 80mm x 22mm. The 4.3" 16m-color touch screen display has a resolution of 480 x 272 pixels. The device uses NAND flash memory and is also equipped with an expandable SD memory slot.
