The PowerShot A570 IS is a solid compact camera with very reasonable price. It has manual exposure controls, optical image stabilization, flash output control, and speedy performance. Image quality is great, especially at lower ISOs: colors are accurate, there is plenty of shadow detail, and the whole image turns out very sharp.
This camera uses AA batteries, so when you run out of power, you don't need to wait for charging.
The Nikon Coolpix L5 is a very sophisticated camera for beginner photographers. It has very limited manual control and slow overall performance. Somehow Nikon Coolpix L5 manages to combine a good amount of features in a relatively compact body. These features include D-Lighting exposure correction technology, a face-priority AF function, an in-camera red-eye function, Nikon's Best Shot Selector mode and one-touch portrait button.
The Kodak EasyShare V803 performs quite well, though it starts up very slowly. Noise and artifacts often spoil V803's pictures, softening and obscuring fine details. Images become covered with grain at settings as low as ISO 400, and only grow worse at higher ISO settings. If you don't plan to make very large photos, then you'd be better buy something like Canon's PowerShot A560. Its images are also noisy at high ISOs, but its controls are much easier and it starts quickly.
Philips Digital PhotoFrame features a high resolution 7" LCD display. It provides very high image and color quality. You can customize photo viewing by selecting between landscape or portrait display. Downloading photos to the PhotoFrame is easily done by copying photos straight from a memory card or from a PC via USB connection. The device supports popular flash memory cards like SD, MMCM, memory stick (MSTM, MS Pro) and compact flash.
It is powered by a rechargeable battery. The PhotoFrame is available in a floral design and comes with four interchangeable frames.
Canon IXUS 70 is a great digital camera which produces very high quality pictures. It has a high number of pixels, optical viewfinder and degree of manual control.
The price for the camera is very reasonable. It is simple enough to be used by a child and sophisticated enough for professional photography.
Olympus SP-550 UZ is a perfect choice for those who like photography: it is comfortable to hold, it's packed with many advanced features and takes great pictures. Also it's the world’s first 18x optical zoom in a point and shoot digicam. The dual image stabilization does a good job handling blur from camera shake. Another nice feature is its 15 fps sequential shooting capability. The camera also has long battery life.
Olympus's in-camera help and built-in Guide system will help beginners to get comfortable with the camera.
Nikon Coolpix L6 has a 6-megapixel CCD image sensor, a 3x optical zoom, a 2.5" LCD, and a host of easy-to-use in-camera Nikon technologies like D-Lighting, Red-Eye Fix, and Face Priority AF. Costing less then $200 this camera seems to be a real treasure for beginning photographers.
Another cool thing about Coolpix L6 is its extraordinarily long battery life. You can take up to 1,000 shots on a pair of AA Lithium batteries. But despite all its positives, image quality is quite low.

(without camera), it is water and dust proof and is designed for real outdoor and sports use, mainly for underwater shooting. It stands water pressure 131 feet / 40 meters below the surface.
Digital Cameras » Canon: Canon EOS-1D Mark III - A Camera for Shooting in the Dark
Canon’s new megacam, the $4,000 EOS-1D Mark III was one of the biggest stars of the recent Photo Marketing Association show in Las Vegas. "It doesn’t capture more pixels than other cameras, just better ones", say Canon representatives. Its 10 Mpix CMOS sensor has bigger microlenses over each picture element, so more light is recorded.
The camera can shoot at 10 FPS with a sensitivity level of ISO 6400 without spoiling the images with digital noise. This sensitivity allows to take high quality pictures in the dark, or use of a very long lens without a tripod.
The EOS-1D Mark III is also the first dual-processor camera. Two Digic III chips handle all the information and processes.
This camera is an excellent choice for professional photographers.
