Cell Phones » Apple: iPhone to be released in June, Leopard OS delayed till October
Apple iPhone is scheduled to be launched in late June and has already passed many of its required certification tests.
With iPhone receiving the most sophisticated software ever to be used on a mobile device, getting it done takes time and resources, resulting in a delay on the final release of the Apple's Leopard OS, scheduled on the beginning of June.
Therefore Apple plans to release a beta copy by that time and the final version of the Leopard will be available in October.
Apple's iPhone showed up at CeBIT, but not in a form that you can see or touch. It appeared on the annual award event as one of three nominees for CeBIT’s most INNOVATIVE product. Unfortunately, the editors of CHIP (judges of the event) decided that JOOST was more innovative than the iPhone and Intel Tera-Scale computing (the third nominee).
Maybe Apple WAS going to showcase the iPhone at lifestyle@CeBIT, but they quickly yanked it out from the event after finding out that the iPhone lost to JOOST. So I didn't find it anywhere.
Nevertheless, I'm positive that iPhone is roaming around the fair grounds, so I'll keep searching for it.
