HSDPA-capable NEC LaVie G type J Launched in Japan

NEC LaVie G type J will be the first laptop to integrate the Sierra Wireless MC8780 embedded HSDPA module. This chip will allow users in Europe and Asia to access both quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE and tri-band UMTS/HSPA networks directly from their notebook. The HSDPA-enabled NEC LaVie G type J will soon be available in Japan for NTT DoCoMo.
The MC8780 chip is specifically meant for Europe and Asia, while the North American version is MC8781.
