The image quality of SD1000 is quite good. But handling of digital noise remains the main problem here. It becomes pretty noticeable at ISO 400 and grows only worse at higher ISOs. So use the flash when shooting indoors. Also the SD1000 is certainly not the fastest camera in the world...
