Femtocell products are in demand

Femtocell's mini base stations become popular these days. Femtocell products like 2Wire's HomePortal BaseStation plug into existing cable or DSL connections, automatically connect to a carrier's backhaul network and provide cellular voice and data coverage for the home.

The two main vendors in this field are 2Wire and AirWalk Communications. Both offer GSM-based and CDMA-based devices with HSPA and EV-DO 3G data capabilities.

Enhancing in-home cellular coverage can allow consumers who have constantly had poor signal reception in their homes to dispose of their landline phones in favor of their cells.
